What Is Waist Training?
Waist training is designed to shape the waistline, maximising your curves to achieve an hourglass figure.
There are two different types of trainers, waist cinchers (commonly known as the waist trainer) and waist trimmers.
The waist cincher and the waist trimmer have two different jobs; unlike the cincher the waist trimmer's neoprene material causes you to sweat, stimulating the fat burning process and encouraging temporary water weight loss. The waist cincher is designed to shape your waist.
The waist cincher can be worn at any time of the day, just as the waist trimmer can - however, the trimmer is the only waist trainer you should exercise in as the cincher is more restrictive and is designed to wear casually.
How To Choose The Right Size
It is important you get the right fit, after all, you want to get the best results. Although it might be tempting to get a smaller size to get that tiny waist the quickest way possible, DON'T! Wearing the wrong size is extremely uncomfortable and won't get you the results you want any sooner.
When measuring for your waist trainer:
- Use a vinyl or fabric measuring tape as they do not stretch
- Find the narrowest part of your waist, which is typically an inch above your belly button
- Place the tape flat around your torso and take your measurement
Just because you are one size in clothes, doesn't mean you'll need the same size waist trainer, always measure yourself before buying a trainer.
If you find you're in between sizes it's always better to go for the larger size.
When Should You Wear a Waist Trainer?
You can wear a waist trainer at any time of the day however do not wear your waist cincher during exercise. The waist cincher is tight-fitting and can restrict your breathing so exercising whilst wearing it is definitely NOT recommended. The waist trimmer, on the other hand, is perfect for exercising in.
Sleeping in your waist trainer is also not advised.
How Long Can You Wear a Waist Trainer?
It is not a good idea to wear your trainer all the time as it can have harmful consequences, breathing problems and indigestion are just two side effects from not giving your body a break from training.
If you are a beginner at waist training, it is best to start off wearing your belt for a couple of days just for 1-2 hours and gradually build on your wear time.
Please find a guideline to follow if you are unsure of how long you should wear your waist trainer for, but please remember the most important thing to do is to listen to your body. If at any time, you experience any type of discomfort take your waist trainer off immediately!
How Do You Get The Best Results?
The waist trainer will help you achieve a small waist but in order to get the best results, you need to be training constantly. It isn't uncommon to see results after a few weeks of training if you stick to it!
And don't forget to adopt a healthy lifestyle too; eating clean and exercising will benefit your journey to transformation. Actually you defeat the purpose of waist training if you're eating junk and aren't working out. Wearing a waist trainer is just one-third of the puzzle, so don't leave the other two important steps out.
Keep Track of Your Progress
The best way to track your progress is by measuring up and taking photos. measure your waistline and take 2 photos (front and side profile) the first day you start wearing your trainer and then every 1-2 weeks thereafter.
It's a great way to see the transformation as it's happening but also for you to gauge whether the way your training is working for you.
Also, remember that your transformation won't happen overnight. Give your body time. Be consistent and patient.
